Pokémon GO Announces Fossil Research Day Event for August 2025

Niantic is bringing ancient power to Pokémon GO this August with the return of Fossil Research Day, a limited-time event that will spotlight fossil-themed Pokémon. Scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, the event will offer exclusive bonuses, Field Research tasks, and an increased spawn rate for several rare Pokémon.
Among the highlights:
Timed Research: Completing tasks will reward encounters with Pokémon such as Kabuto, Omanyte, Tyrunt, and Amaura. A premium Timed Research will also be available for $1.
Event Bonuses: Increased Shiny odds for selected fossil Pokémon.
Featured Spawns: Anorith, Lileep, Shieldon, and Cranidos will appear more frequently in the wild.
Fossil Research Day continues Pokémon GO’s trend of themed events aimed at both collectors and battlers, offering players a condensed, high-reward gameplay experience.
