Dubai Expands Gaming Sector With 350 Firms Eyes $200B Market and 30K Jobs

Dubai’s Gaming Industry Aims to Create 30,000 Jobs and Add $1 Billion to GDP by 2033. Dubai has officially activated its growing gaming industry, aiming to create 30,000 new jobs and contribute $1 billion to the GDP by 2033.
Under the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33), the emirate now hosts over 350 gaming-related businesses. Of these, 260 are identified as dedicated game developers, collectively contributing to the $200 billion global gaming market.
Since DPG33 was launched in November 2023, more than 60 new gaming companies have been established in Dubai. Notably, 12% of these are major international firms, reflecting a 16.6% industry growth rate since the programme began.
Dubai’s digital gaming sector
In recent years, the gaming sector has become one of the most dynamic and promising areas of economic growth in Dubai. Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, stated: “The recent progress in Dubai’s gaming ecosystem highlights the success of the city’s strategic vision for a future-focused economy one that thrives on diversification and forward-looking investments in both current and emerging sectors.”
He continued: “The gaming industry holds immense economic promise, and Dubai continues to be a hub of opportunity attracting creators and innovators from around the world. This sector is rich with potential, supported by a vibrant ecosystem that encourages entrepreneurship and cutting-edge ideas, particularly in game development. It plays a vital role in strengthening Dubai’s global position and advancing the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).”
Launched in November 2023 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33) aims to establish the city as one of the world’s top 10 gaming hubs. The initiative targets the creation of 30,000 new jobs and a $1 billion contribution to the economy by 2033.
DPG33 is centered on developing local talent, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and embracing digital content creation. It also seeks to provide training and job opportunities through partnerships with global companies and academic institutions. In addition, the programme supports a range of local and international events, exhibitions, and collaborations, fostering strong ties between individuals, businesses, and regulators in Dubai and around the world.
