The Sims 4 July 2025 Patch Introduces Architectural Features and Streamlined UI

Maxis released a new update for The Sims 4, delivering a broad set of features, improvements, and fixes across the base game. Titled “Planting Seeds of Enchantment,” the update is available on PC, Mac, and console platforms, and serves as a prelude to the upcoming Enchanted by Nature expansion, set to launch on July 10.

Build Mode Enhancements

Players now have access to fully transparent glass walls, enabling modern and creative architectural designs. These can be found under Wall Patterns in Build Mode. In addition, rooftop gardening is now possible using selected shrubs and flowers, which can be placed via the Roof Sculptures tool.

User Interface and Inventory Updates

The update introduces a more efficient inventory management system with new filters including New, Price, Crafted Quality, and Rarity. Items added recently are marked with badges, and spoiled food now automatically stacks into a clearly labeled group for easier disposal. These improvements apply to individual Sim inventories, refrigerators, and storage units.

Notebook and Collections Redesign

The in-game notebook has been redesigned for better functionality, offering improved navigation between categories and the ability to access Sim statistics and household collections directly. The Collections interface also now includes real-time animations, indicators for new items, and advanced filters such as Rarity, Name, Missing, Bonus Items, and progress percentage views.

Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements

A wide range of fixes were implemented in this patch. Gameplay issues like indoor rain, miscategorized build items, and repetitive NPC names have been addressed. Console-specific updates enhance controller mapping and navigation. In Create-a-Sim, improvements include corrected clothing textures, enhanced body hair detail, and resolved accessory clipping. Build Mode saw fixes to door placement, plant categorization, and item alignment.

Pack-Specific Updates

The update includes targeted fixes for various expansion packs, including Seasons, Get Famous, Cottage Living, High School Years, Horse Ranch, and others. These improvements ensure smoother functionality and better integration across the game’s content offerings.

Players have reported new hidden features not listed in the official notes. These include the ability to evolve or fertilize all plants simultaneously, non-occult Sims using vampire teeth, and the availability of pointy ears for regular Sims. Additional changes in Create-a-Sim include a new Skin Effects tab with gloss controls, a Head Decorations category, updated body hair textures, and expanded swatches for eyes and eyelashes.

Future outlook

This update builds a stronger foundation for the Enchanted by Nature expansion arriving July 10, while reinforcing Maxis’ ongoing commitment to improving the player experience with every release. The combination of design flexibility, interface enhancements, and gameplay stability makes this one of the most impactful updates in recent months.

With this update, The Sims 4 continues to deliver meaningful improvements that expand both creative freedom and gameplay depth. As players explore the new features introduced in July, they can look forward to even more immersive experiences with the release of the Enchanted by Nature expansion on July 10. Maxis remains committed to evolving the game through thoughtful updates that respond to community feedback and elevate the simulation experience for players around the world.
