PlayStation’s newest State of Play offered a glimpse into the exciting future of the PS5, featuring the debut of 007: First Light, the official unveiling of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls by Arc System Works, the release date for Silent Hill f, and the long-anticipated reveal of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles—plus plenty more.

007 First Light

Our first glimpse of 007 First Light, the upcoming James Bond title from Amazon MGM Studios, has arrived. The trailer suggests the game explores the early days of the iconic spy, set against a stylish 1960s backdrop. A youthful, ambitious Bond begins his journey with MI6, embarking on globe-trotting missions. 007 First Light is slated for release in 2026.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Arc System Works, known for developing the Guilty Gear franchise and Dragon Ball FighterZ, has officially announced Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 4v4 team-based fighting game scheduled to launch in 2026 on PS5 and PC.

Silent Hill f

The latest State of Play offered a fresh glimpse at Silent Hill f, the upcoming survival horror title set in 1960s Japan. The eerie new footage teased some of the terrifying encounters awaiting players when the game launches on September 25, 2025. Soon, we’ll uncover the story of Hinako Shimizu and her companions as they navigate the haunting mysteries of Ebisugaoka, a town shrouded in strange fog and unfamiliar threats.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is set to bring the beloved classic to PS5 on September 30, 2025, offering both original and enhanced editions.

The Enhanced Edition features fully voiced dialogue, an updated and streamlined user interface, improved graphics, and quality-of-life additions such as a new “Squire” difficulty option. Meanwhile, the Classic Edition combines the original 1997 graphics and gameplay with the acclaimed War of the Lions translation, while also introducing modern conveniences like auto-save.

Nioh 3

Nioh 3 is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 in early 2026, and to tide fans over, Team Ninja has released a playable demo that’s available starting today.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater received an action-filled new gameplay trailer, which also offered a sneak peek at the updated Snake vs. Monkey mode featuring content from Ape Escape. The trailer wrapped up with a surprise teaser hinting at something new involving camouflage mechani

Ghost of Yōtei

Along with a brief look at Ghost of Yōtei, PlayStation announced that a dedicated State of Play spotlighting the highly anticipated sequel will air in July, offering a deeper look ahead of its October 2 release.

New Astro Bot Stages

Support for Astro Bot continues, with five brand-new Vicious Void Galaxy levels on the way, along with new collectible Special Bots—one of which is described as a “vengeful newcomer.”

The upcoming levels are titled Twin-Frog Trouble, Suck It Up, Handhold Havoc, High Inflation, and one more that has yet to be revealed.

In addition, a Limited Edition Astro Bot DualSense wireless controller is set to launch later this year, featuring a playful new design element added the touchpad

Lumines Arise

Lumines is receiving a new installment titled Lumines Arise, scheduled for release on both PS5 and PS VR2 in Fall 2025. The game is being developed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, known for Tetris Effect, and a free demo featuring single-player and multiplayer modes will be available later this summer.

Pragmata

After its last update in 2023, Pragmata has officially resurfaced with an exciting new gameplay trailer. The footage showcases Hugh safeguarding a young girl named Diana, alongside plenty of sleek action sequences. Set on a moon, Pragmata follows these characters as they collaborate to overcome the lunar station’s AI and find their way back to Earth. What sets the game apart is the simultaneous control of both characters, with Capcom promising to reveal more about this mechanic in the future

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow

A new Thief game is set to launch in 2025, exclusively for PS VR2 and potentially other VR systems. The gameplay preview showed players exploring a city, stealthily sneaking around, hunting for treasure, evading guards, firing arrows from the shadows, and much more.

Romeo Is a Dead Man

Grasshopper Manufacture’s Romeo Is a Dead Man is an upcoming wild action title for PS5 launching in 2026. It promises “intense, bloody combat, mind-blowing twists and turns, and a whole bunch of somewhat stereotypical gimmicks.”

The story follows Romeo Stargazer, who finds himself “caught between life and death.” As an FBI Space-Time special agent known as ‘Dead Man,’ he’s tasked with tracking down the most wanted fugitives across multiple universes.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection

Digital Eclipse, known for titles like Tetris Forever and Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, has unveiled Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection. This collection offers an in-depth exploration of the iconic fighting series’ history. Along with a compilation of games, fans will gain access to design documents, early prototypes, motion capture sessions, concept art, and much more.

The lineup of confirmed games includes Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat 4, Mortal Kombat Advance, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition.

Project Defiant

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced Project Defiant, its first wireless fight stick set to launch on PS5 and PC. Although additional information will be shared later, PlayStation stated that the device will offer players greater flexibility to enjoy their favorite fighting games—either wirelessly using the innovative PlayStation Link technology for ultra-low latency or via a wired connection on PS5 or PC.

 

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

From the makers of the Blasphemous games comes the next side-scrolling action entry in the Ninja Gaiden series, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, featuring two heroes from rival clans who must team up to defeat evil. It’s out July 31 on PS5 and PS4.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is a new 2.5D side-scrolling action RPG coming to PS5 in 2026, set in the same gothic universe as Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. This new chapter unfolds in the 16th century, where the Ethereal Castle and its demonic forces have plunged the land into chaos, destroying anyone who dares to oppose them.

The fate of humanity rests in the hands of Leonard, a young apprentice of the Black Wolves, and Alexander, a knight and the last surviving member of the White Stags. Together, they must join forces to defeat the Demon Lord Elias. Players will be able to control both heroes, switching between them instantly with the press of a button.

Tides of Tomorrow

Road 96 developer DigixArt has announced that Tides of Tomorrow will launch on February 24, 2026. The game aims to reinvent multiplayer storytelling by allowing your decisions to directly influence the experiences of other players.

Set in a post-apocalyptic oceanic world, players will “follow” the path of someone who played before them. The choices made by previous players carry real consequences—for instance, if someone before you stole a valuable item from a key NPC, that character may now be hostile to all Tidewalkers, forcing you to take a stealthy approach rather than being welcomed.

Sword of the Sea

Giant Squid, the studio behind Abzû and The Pathless, has shared new details about Sword of the Sea, which is set to launch on August 19, 2025. The game will also be included in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog at release. Described as an “atmospheric surfing adventure,” Sword of the Sea has players glide across a desolate landscape on a mystical hoversword, aiming to restore life to a once-lifeless world.

Sea of Remnants

Joker Studio has officially unveiled Sea of Remnants, a unique blend of Ocean Adventure RPG, Simulation, Survival Building, and Turn-Based Strategy elements. But the studio prefers to describe it in more poetic terms.

“This is an endless journey caught in a loop of death and rebirth—a voyage where we row endlessly forward, only to return to the beginning,” wrote Joker Studio’s StlarPan on the PlayStation Blog.

In Sea of Remnants, players will step into the role of an amnesiac sailor embarking on a mysterious expedition alongside an enigmatic girl. Their destination is the fabled and cursed Sea of Remnants—a place rumored to hold unimaginable riches and eternal glory.

Survival Climbing Game

The survival climbing game Cairn is set to launch on PS5 on November 5, 2025, but players can get an early taste starting today with a newly released demo. The demo allows you to begin your journey with Aava as you tackle the Tenzen mountain ridge—an early challenge before facing the brutal climb up the unforgiving Mount Kami.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger

Get a fresh glimpse of Digimon Story Time Stranger, the upcoming adventure RPG set to launch on October 3, 2025. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game invites players into a richly detailed digital world filled with mystery, exploration, and classic Digimon battles. With new environments to uncover and an original storyline to experience, Time Stranger is shaping up to be a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, the latest entry in the beloved arcade golf series, is set to launch on September 5. This new installment brings fresh content and surprises, including the addition of Pac-Man as a playable golfer. With its signature blend of fun, accessible gameplay and quirky charm, the game continues the tradition of delivering an enjoyable golfing experience for players of all skill levels.

Baby Steps

The delightfully absurd Baby Steps from Devolver Digital is making its way to PS5 later this year. This wacky and wonderfully offbeat walking simulator embraces its weirdness, offering a humorous and unconventional experience that doesn’t take itself too seriously—making it all the more entertaining.

Hirogami

Hirogami, set in a stunning origami-inspired world, is launching on September 3, 2025. Players will step into the role of Hiro, a skilled warrior who wields a fan and masters the ancient art of “folding.” To protect his homeland from dangerous digital invaders, Hiro must transform into various animals and use their abilities to overcome obstacles and challenges.
