Silksong Release Expected by 2025 Holiday Season

Hollow Knight: Silksong remains one of the most eagerly awaited indie titles, as it’s still unreleased six years after its initial announcement.
However, developer Team Cherry has confirmed that the game is set to launch this year. While it’s been known that the studio has been aiming for a 2025 release especially with a playable demo scheduled at an Australian museum in September Team Cherry has now reiterated following the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and the unveiling of the ROG Xbox Ally that Silksong will definitely be released within the year.

The reveal of the ROG Xbox Ally left Hollow Knight fans puzzled, as the announcement of the new handheld featured almost exclusively gameplay footage from Hollow Knight: Silksong. Xbox president Sarah Bond followed this by stating:
“The highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available at launch, and included with Game Pass, when the Ally releases later this year.”
This led many fans to assume that once the release date for the ROG Xbox Ally is announced, the launch date for Silksong would also be revealed. However, that’s not entirely accurate. Matthew Griffon from Team Cherry took to the studio’s official Discord server to clarify that Silksong’s release is not linked to the launch of any hardware. He reaffirmed that the game is still set to release this year, before the holiday season.
That means a release date will likely be revealed sometime between now and the end of the year. While that’s still as vague as Silksong’s release window has always been, this time it genuinely feels like the game is finally nearing completion. With any luck, a concrete release date will be officially announced by the time Gamescom 2025 rolls around.
