Honor of Kings September Update Introduces New Heroes and Honor Royale Gameplay
Honor of Kings has launched a new update bringing together all five Flowborn Classes, introducing a new Hero, and adding a brand-new fast-paced game mode.
The latest update also introduces the Honor Royale Beta, a three-minute 2v2v2v2 battle royale mode designed for quick and chaotic PvP matches, alongside a new Summoner Skill and fresh ranking systems.
New Flowborn Classes and Hero Wang Wei
The update brings two new Flowborn Classes to the game, Flowborn (Assassin) and Flowborn (Roamer), both of which have been available for free since September 23.
Players can also look forward to Wang Wei, a new Mid-lane Hero arriving on October 8. Wang Wei will be available for 13,888 Gold or 588 Vouchers, with a 50% discount on Vouchers during his first week.
With all five Flowborn Classes now coming together, players have more options to experiment with different roles and playstyles.
Honor Royale Beta Brings Three-Minute Battle Royale Matches
The biggest addition in the update is Honor Royale Beta, a new game mode where four teams of two battle it out in matches lasting just three minutes.
Players spawn alongside their teammate at one of four corners of the map, with the objective of eliminating the opposing teams and becoming the last team standing.
The mode features several mechanics designed to keep matches fast and unpredictable. Players must stay inside the Safe Zone as the battlefield gradually shrinks towards the centre of the map, while defeating monsters and opening chests rewards Runes that instantly upgrade characters, restore Health and Energy, and boost stats.
Downed players drop two Runes and can respawn next to a surviving teammate after 10 seconds, with a team only being eliminated once both players have been defeated. At the 90-second mark, a Boss appears in the centre of the map, with defeating it granting a shield and adding a lightning effect to attacks. Random events can also occur during each match, ensuring that every round feels different.
The result is a more casual and frenetic PvP experience that players can jump into when they want a quick match without committing to a traditional longer game.
New Flow State Summoner Skill
The update also introduces a new Summoner Skill called Flow State.
When activated, Flow State instantly halves the cooldown of all skills while summoning a Flowborn weapon based on the Hero’s primary role. The skill has a 100-second cooldown.
Each role receives a different Flowborn weapon:
Support
Summons Flow Guqin, which heals the first allied Hero and damages the first enemy in range before returning to heal the player for the same amount.
Mage
Summons Flow Artifact, dealing sustained magic damage while slowing the target by 30% for two seconds.
Tank/Warrior
Summons Flow Shield, dealing physical damage and knocking up nearby enemies for 0.5 seconds.
Marksman
Summons Flow Crossbow, dealing physical damage three times, with the first hit knocking the target back.
Assassin
Summons Flow Claws, allowing the player to dash towards a target while dealing true damage equal to 16% of their missing HP, alongside physical damage to enemies caught along the way.
New Ranking Systems Add More Goals
The update also introduces two new ranking systems, Path to Honor and Weekly Hero Challenge, giving players additional objectives to work towards during the season.
Path to Honor
Starting at Grandmaster tier, between 10 and 50 stars, players will unlock a new prestige reward for every 10 stars they earn. This creates a continuous progression system for players climbing through the upper ranks.
Weekly Hero Challenge
Each week, three missions will be randomly generated with varying levels of difficulty.
Players must use the assigned Hero in ranked matches to complete these missions and earn bonus tier points alongside the standard ranked rewards. Higher-difficulty missions require players to win their matches to claim the rewards.
More Ways to Play Honor of Kings
With new Flowborn Classes, a new Hero, the Honor Royale Beta, Flow State and additional ranking systems, the latest Honor of Kings update gives players plenty of new content to explore.
The addition of Honor Royale Beta in particular offers a faster alternative to traditional MOBA matches, with three-minute battles built around quick decisions, team coordination and unpredictable encounters.
