The Games Just Keep Coming: September’s Best Releases
This September was a goldmine for many gamers! Approximately 633 games were released this month among them were big title games like Wolverine, FC27, The Witcher 3 Remastered and more!
September’s biggest releases cover every taste: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave brought a huge tactical RPG to Switch 2, Onimusha: Way of the Sword revived Capcom’s samurai series after nearly two decades, and The Blood of Dawnwalker delivered a dark vampire RPG from former Witcher developers. Marvel’s Wolverine gave PS5 players a brutal, claw-first Logan, while Mewgenics brought its cat-breeding roguelike chaos to consoles.
The List doesn’t stop there! Here’s everything else that’s out:
- Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault (Sept 2)
- Orbitals (Sept 3)
- NBA 2K27 (Sept 4)
- Halloween: The Game (Sept 8)
- Sprawl Zero (Sept 8)
- Cat Me If You Can (Sept 8)
- Sunset Summit (Sept 9)
- Valheim on consoles (Sept 9)
- Wardogs (Sept 10, early access)
- Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush (Sept 10)
- NHL 27 (Sept 11)
- Trails in the Sky: 2nd Chapter (Sept 17)
- Another Eden Begins (Sept 17)
- Graveyard Keeper 2 (Sept 22)

The month isn’t over yet, and the final stretch has plenty to look forward to. Control Resonant, Remedy’s sequel to Control, launches worldwide on September 24, with PS5 Digital Deluxe owners getting two days of early access. You play as Dylan Faden in a warped, open-world Manhattan, with a new focus on melee combat and shapeshifting weapons. Silent Hill: Townfall, a Scottish-set survival horror game with some unusual mechanics, also lands on the 24th, alongside EA Sports FC 27 for football fans coming back new and improved giving players more control over the ball than ever. On September 29, Toem 2 brings back the cozy photography adventure, Minecraft Dungeons 2 lets you team up with friends to take on a new evil, and Nivalis Nights, from the makers of Cloudpunk, sends you up the ranks of a neon-soaked cyberpunk business world.

As for why so many games are landing now, the simplest explanation is the calendar. September is the usual kick-off for a busy stretch that runs into the holiday season. Publishers also move dates around: like Capcom who pulled Onimusha forward from an original September 25 launch to September 4. The other theory is that studios are clearing out ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is scheduled for November 19. Although there is no known reason behind it.
September has given players more than enough to fill their backlogs, from tactical RPGs and samurai action to cozy cat games. With Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall and more still on the way, the month isn’t done yet.
